Recruitment Update – Law Firm Client – February 2016

In a departure from our usual updates about the legal sector and the demand for lawyers and HR professionals, today we focus specifically on one of our clients which, we are pleased to announce, is also a new client for Oyster.

By way of background, the firm has its roots in the US and a long established presence both there and in Asia and it is particularly well known for its expertise in Litigation and Corporate M&A in sectors such as Life Sciences and Technology. Culturally, it has a distinct make-up, with a diverse range of employees and no particular “type” of person.

As you’d expect, the work is first rate and the clients blue chip. What you might not expect is that target hours are similar to a Top 20 UK law firm as opposed to a White Shoe firm, so whilst you will undoubtedly work hard, you can also achieve some sort of work-life balance. Many Trainees stay with the firm long term.

The firm’s European strategy is focused upon growing across a number of practice areas in London and continental Europe so if you are a 1-3PQE Corporate M&A lawyer, a Capital Markets lawyer with equity derivatives experience or perhaps a specialist in Technology transactions, then please do get in touch to find out more.

Alternatively, for a more general discussion about our client and/or your career more then please contact Michael Pickup.

Oyster in 2016

January 2016 marks 7 years since we first launched the business during which time we, along with everyone else, have experienced the depths of the global economic downturn and, for the past couple of years at least, the economic upturn and with it, a more buoyant legal recruitment market. Along the way, we’ve recruited in-house Construction lawyers in Dubai, Corporate Partners in London, Master Mariners in Greece and Property lawyers in East Anglia. We’ve also recruited Heads of HR in Asia, L&D Managers in London and Recruitment Managers in the UAE.

Right now, we’re recruiting for D&I Managers in London, Aviation Liability lawyers in Asia and a senior commercial property lawyer for an in-house role in Manchester.

In the year ahead we hope to capitalise on what we’ve achieved so far and to continue to develop our offering by focusing, in particular, on those areas we know best including Human Resources,  Real Estate, Construction & Engineering, Financial Services Regulation and Commercial IP/IT.

Closer to home, we’re also keen to expand Oyster and hope to recruit additional Consultants as the year unfolds.

So whether you’re a lawyer looking to move firms or go in-house, perhaps even relocate abroad or possibly returning home then we’d be delighted to hear from you. Equally, if your an HR professional, Generalist or Specialist, looking for permanent or interim work then please do get in touch.

In the meantime, we’d like to thank our clients and past and present candidates for their continued support.

Best wishes in 2016

Michael
